This is one aspect of being a webmaster that took me quite a while to get over. I have found staying on top of any breaking news in my niche very beneficial especially when I relay the information to my visitors. The second thing you can be doing is making connections with other webmasters in your niche. Spend time on social media websites seeking out beneficial relationships and begin cross promotion. Anyway just a couple things which in my time online has provided much more than worrying about backlinks and position.
